The good intentions of the end of the year in “home” Trenitalia for 2020 are: greater capillarity in urban areas, customization of the offer and greater dynamism.
More specifically, we are talking about 128 more stops for the Frecce: 43 more in Rogoredo, 30 in Rho-Fiera Milano and 12 in Milano Porta Garibaldi; 21 more in Rome: 21 in Roma Tiburtina and 5 in Roma Termini; 18 new stops in Reggio Emilia; 19 more in Napoli Afragola; 14 in Napoli Centrale. The 104 FrecciaRossa Rome-Milan races are also confirmed: an offer that starts at 5 in the morning and lasts until after midnight.
Another important innovation is the possibility to buy regional tickets with contactless mode using special validators at the railway stations.
News also for Calabria. In fact, within 2026 is expected to renew the entire fleet of regional trains replacing them with modern trains, such as the electric and innovative Pop.
In addition, during 2020, the introduction of 2 new connections from Venice and Padua to Reggio Calabria and vice versa is planned (the intermediate stops are assumed: Venice-Mestre, Bologna Centrale, Florence, Rome, Salerno, Paola, Lamezia Terme and Villa San Giovanni).
Another interesting and beautiful news related to rail transport is the news that the Minister Dario Franceschini (head of MIBACT – Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism), announced that 2020 is the year of the “Tourist Train”! After the 2016 year of the Walks, the 2017 year of the Villages, the 2018 year of the Italian food and the 2019 year of the Slow Tourism, the 2020 is dedicated therefore to the possibility to “live” the train in an experiential key and therefore to visit the Belpaese in a sustainable way.
